There is something magical that happens when you touch pen to paper. Don’t get me wrong – I LOVE technology – but there is just something to be said for good ol’ fashioned pen and paper.
I fell into planning browsing Pinterest one evening in April of 2014. I stumbled across a post with a planner decorated in washi tape and thought it looked like fun! I had always loved scrapbooking, but found that I was struggling to motivate myself to complete an entire project. I would always scrapbook and document smaller moments – family vacations, events, etc – but never had the patience to take on a larger task that required more commitment like a scrapbook of the whole year. When I saw that post of an adorable planner decorated with washi tape, deco stickers and cute post it notes, I thought “this is manageable … This is something I can get into,” and I’ve been hooked ever since.
This is my second year of my Planner Journey with Erin Condren, and I have thoroughly enjoyed the process of planning and the peace it brings into my life. I use the technology on my phone pretty regularly – iCal and Notes mainly – but for some reason it doesn’t solidify until I can see everything all together in one place. My planners combine everything in to one easy to access location. I can see my reminders, my schedule, my appointments, to do lists and errands all at the same time.
I am currently using an Erin Condren horizontal layout planner. Last year, I used the Vertical. I liked the vertical a lot, but I’ve found peace with the horizontal. The vertical “Morning, Day, Night” model stressed me out because I would record specific tasks in one of the sections, lets say morning for example, and it might not be accomplished until night. I know they fixed that and have left the vertical boxes blank on the most recent update – but at that point I had already committed to the horizontal. I LOVE the horizontal. I like that there is so much space and I can have a floating to do list or task throughout the day, and I get to that task when I happen to get to it.
I am also a teacher, and for my Lesson Plan book, I use a Plum Paper teacher planner. This planner is AWESOME. The layout is incredible with plenty of boxes for the different courses I teach, as well a box for work I have to prep, a check box for a to do list, a box for meetings and other random occurrences. I really do love this planner. I have considered many times switching to the Erin Condren teacher planner, but I just can’t give it up, even though I love the Erin Condren brand. This is my fourth year using Plum Paper for my lesson plan book.
So that’s about it as far as the planners I use! What planners are you currently loving? What do you love about them?
