Is it terrible that I am more excited for our honeymoon than our wedding day? I’m so serious. Don’t get me wrong, I am SO Excited for our marriage, but am 100% not into the ‘dream wedding’ thing. I find myself daydreaming about our honeymoon in the middle of work, and have to pull myself back to reality about 15 times a day – so sad. My fiancée and I have never taken a vacation together, so I am so looking forward to going away for the first time. I couldn’t imagine going anywhere more amazing than the happiest place on earth ….DISNEYLAND! – Followed by 4 days in Las Vegas, which neither of us have ever been to. Complete opposites, I KNOW, and I cannot be more pumped for our juxtaposing experiences.
When we were deciding on where to take our honeymoon– we really tried as best we could to plan something within our means financially (See more about ways to save money on your wedding here). Disney seemed like the perfect option for us. Our flights are covered by my SouthWest Points, and the only part we have to pay for is our hotel and park admission, which while it is expensive, is totally worth the experience. I’m an experience over stuff person any day of the week. Plus, there is something about Disney that is so special – that indescribable feeling while you’re walking through, people watching and seeing families at their best (and sometimes worst), the different smells, finding the special details that surround the place. AHHH I love it. LOVE IT!
This particular post will focus primarily on sharing Disney related purchases. Part 2: Las Vegas – Coming Soon!
As you all know, Disney is very expensive, but staying on the property was a priority for us considering we only get one honeymoon together, and we wanted to make it really special. Once we got the hotel out of the way, I was completely overcome by the Disney Spirit. For months, there has been nothing but Disney talk – Blogs, The Disneyland Website, and finding Packing List after Packing list on Pinterest about what others have brought to the park in their experience. I cannot get enough of it.
After reading hundreds of articles on Pinterest, and scanning through a zillion hashtags on Instagram, The first thing I wanted to be sure we were both thematically dressed in Disney appropriate attire for the duration of our honeymoon. We are going to Disney Land for three days, with park admission for two days – so I definitely wanted something new to wear each day in Disney!
Enter the matching couples shirts. Yes – I know it’s dorky. Yes – I know it’s cliché. Yes – I know people are going to be rolling their eyes at us the whole time we wear them. No – I do not care. Seriously, there’s something about Disney that severely alters my maturity level and makes me So. Freaking. Excited. to be a dork with my future hubby. I don’t know what it is – maybe it’s that Disney Magic!!! I purchased these off of Etsy from seller Young And Styling and am so excited to wear them.
Next, I know I needed to prep my Erin Condren Life Planner for the occasion – obviously. (My fellow planner addicts will understand). I purchased the”Be Our Guest” graphic from Etsy seller Sweet Tea and a Cactus, and then uploaded it to the Erin Condren website to create a custom cover. I (of course) needed planner clips to match the Disney Theme, and purchased both the castle and Mickey ears from MC Planner Accessories also on Etsy. They’re adorable. Clearly, I buy A TON of stuff from Etsy – especially things that serve no purpose but to purely make me happy. Like planner covers. And planner clips. Swoon.
To complete the Disney park outfits, I found a few things from Hot Topic. Now, let me preface this with the I have not been in a Hot Topic
since I was about 15 years old, in my punk/goth/ longing for teenage self expression phase. I don’t want to talk about it. But let me tell you, Hot Topic has the CUTEST Disney stuff. Who knew? I went in on a whim because they had Harry Potter merchandise in the
window, and I can’t not look at Harry Potter stuff when I see it – even though I am a grown-ass woman with two degrees, a mortgage, and am about to be married – Harry Potter stuff led to the perusal of the Star Wars stuff, and then the Nintendo stuff… until finally, I wound up in the Disney section. Their Disney stuff is BOMB, and it’s super affordable compared to some of the shirts I was looking at on Etsy (which is my go-to). I can’t find the Star Wars tank online, but the Ariel shirt can be purchased here, and the bow here. Get pumped, people. Get pumped.
What trip to Disney would be complete without a set of Mickey Ears? I opted for a set of Pink Sparkly ones from Etsy Seller Mouse Kris Ears and I cannot wait to wear them in the parks with my Star Wars tank and Just Married T-Shirt. Legendary.
The last thing I’m looking into is a new pair of shoes in the very near future. I’m debating between white converse, Disney Vans, and some Disney sneakers I found online at Target. Still in the process of debating – Will I wear white converse? How dirty will they get? Do I spend money on Disney Vans when the Target ones are just as cute and $20? Will the Target ones hurt my feet and give me blisters? Decisions decisions.
That’s what I’ve purchased so far for my Disney trip this summer! What do you suggest? What are your must-haves?
Thanks for stopping by!
